ARTIST STATEMENT
Like all good things, clay comes from the Earth. As the saying goes, a potter made the earth, and a weaver made the sky. In it’s beginning state, clay is soft and vulnerable, but in time becomes strong and resilient.
In my work, I prefer to keep the natural and earthly elements evident, honouring the integrity of the material, enjoying the raw and gritty qualities clay has to offer. Through my work, I depict scenes and stories of nature, flora and fauna, in an attempt to celebrate the simplicity of the joy of nature. I use themes of the living world and botanical influences as decoration.
My goal through my art is to capture the fleeting moments of peace we experience upon being outside, taking a walk in the woods, or perhaps simply enjoying a sunny day in the backyard. I am inspired by the living world, and the plants and creatures that reside there.
